B&O Tech: Product Playlists

#47 in a series of articles about the technology behind Bang & Olufsen loudspeakers

This is just a list of playlists on the Tidal music streaming service that can be used for testing and demonstrating various Bang & Olufsen products.

If you don’t have a Tidal subscription, you can at least see the list of tracks, artists and albums.

  1. Dear Goeff

    I own a V1-40 / BS Moment and a couple of BL3’s. Recenty I added a BeoPlay A6.
What would be the best way to use Tidal, without loosing sound quality?

    Kind regards
    Dani

  2. Hi Dani,

Interesting question… I use a two or three different methods at work, depending on what, exactly, I’m working on.

The way I normally do it is to connect my Macintosh’s Toslink output directly to the Toslink input on the loudspeakers – although this would not be an option for you, since the BL3’s don’t have a Toslink input. The Mac then sees the Toslink output as an external DAC which can be used as the output for the Tidal application on the computer.

Another option that I use that would work for you is to connect a Mac to the television via HDMI. The Mac then sees the TV as an external DAC which can be used as the output for the Tidal application on the computer.

Another option that I sometimes use is to play from the Tidal app on an iPhone connected via AirPlay to an Apple TV which is connected to the TV via HDMI.

Of course, I’ve assume through all of this that you’re an Apple person. If you’re an android person, then I’ll have to ask around to find out an answer for you.

    Cheers

  3. Dear Geoff,

did you have a while to test sound quality in BeoSound Shape? As a B&O dealer I could use some propositions for test tracks for demonstrating Shape algorithm. I figured out that the best songs are the ones with really clear, female vocals then you could literally hear singer is standing in the middle of the wall.

Any Tidal playlist of your choice would be appreciated :-)

    Thank You,
